Life’s greatest adventures happen when you step out of your comfort zone.
Stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t easy. There are so many unknowns. Your anxieties creep up. Your inner voice says no. It’s scary. Here’s the thing though, it’s supposed to be!
A few years ago while on a working holiday to Poland, after finishing up a hectic speaking tour of Germany, I received a very interesting offer… AllWeb Albania presented me with the opportunity to deliver the opening keynote at their digital marketing conference in Tirana.
Truth be told, I was exhausted after weeks of intensive MC’ing and speaking engagements. To add to that, I’d never been to Albania – I couldn’t even point it out on a map if you asked me! How would an Albanian crowd respond to my content? How would I even get to Albania? How can I get a vlogger on 24 hours notice? Too many questions, not enough answers.
BUT
I said yes.
Step out of your comfort zone.
The seemingly terrifying word yes, presented me with a truly memorable adventure
- An opportunity to deliver my favourite message to hundreds of hungry, ambitious entrepreneurs; Start Now Start Simple.
- An opportunity to bring and test out a young, driven content creator to work with me building both my brand as well as his portfolio
- An opportunity to meet a truly wonderful and kind event team running great events in the region.
- The opportunity to explore a beautiful part of the world, unbeknownst to me literally a few days before.
The moral of this story is that this principle applies to everybody, professionally and personally. Wherever you are on your journey, remember to step outside of your comfort zone. A whole world of opportunity exists outside of a box you put yourself in.
